Alanine Aminotransferase (ALT)
Also known as alanine transaminase, ALT is an enzyme primarily produced in the liver. Blood ALT levels rise in response to liver cell damage and are a sensitive marker of liver inflammation and health. Heightened levels of ALT may be an early sign of impending clinical symptoms of conditions such as non-alcoholic fatty liver disease.[48]
