Resting Heart Rate

Resting heart rate, or pulse rate, measures the number of times your heart beats per minute at rest and can vary with activity, stress, and pathological conditions. Resting heart rate serves as a barometer for cardiovascular fitness, autonomic nervous system function, and physiological homeostasis. Lower rates often indicate superior cardiovascular conditioning, and higher rates may indicate potential stress, dehydration, or an underlying systemic issue. Acute changes may also signal early health issues, including infection or thyroid gland dysfunction. [24]
