Hand Grip Strength

Grip Strength is a simple measure of how much force is generated when you squeeze an object with your hand, serving as an indicator of muscular strength and functional capacity. A calibrated dynamometer is used to measure maximal grip effort and expresses the force in kilograms. Beyond hand and forearm strength, grip strength correlates with total muscle mass and can work as a predictor of functional decline. Research indicates reduced grip strength is associated with decreased cardiovascular health, longevity, brain health and mobility, particularly in aging populations. [30] [31]
