Metabolic Panel

A Comprehensive Metabolic Panel (CMP) is a routinely ordered blood test that provides a broad assessment of metabolic and organ function. It includes measurements of glucose, electrolytes (e.g., sodium, potassium, and calcium), kidney markers (e.g., creatinine and blood urea nitrogen [BUN]), liver enzymes (e.g., alanine aminotransferase [ALT], aspartate aminotransferase [AST], and alkaline phosphatase [ALP]), and protein levels (total protein, albumin). The CMP is used to evaluate glycemic control, electrolyte and fluid balance, and kidney and liver health. It is frequently used in routine health evaluations and in the management of conditions such as diabetes, hypertension, and liver or kidney disease. [46]
